The Sansevieria (Dracaena trifasciata) or Snake Plant is one of our favorite houseplants due to its easy care. Sansevierias feature elegant, wide leaves that grows upward. As the sansevieria grows, it will also begin to widen. The leaves of the Sansevieria also feature a textured pattern making it great decorative piece in the corner of a room.

Sansevierias can tolerate almost any lighting conditions, from full sun to partial light. Water sparingly, only when soil is completely dry, as frequently as once every two weeks, or as little as once every 2 months in the wintertime. Arrives in choice of ceramic planter. Plant measures approximately 12"-15" in height, including planter.

Care Information

The success of your plant depends on a variety of factors, most notably watering and light. Below are some species specific guidelines to follow that will help ensure that your plant will stay healthy and happy.

Pruning Tips:
The Sanseveria leaves can be removed and plucked as they get too abundant. The foliage will continue to grow and elongate as the tree ages.
Fertilizing:
We recommend fertilizing your plant every 3 months using a granular time release fertilizer.
Lighting:
Indirect sunlight is best, but this plant enjoys almost any lighting conditions. Amount of light will affect growth rate; brighter light will facilitate faster growth, low lighting conditions will slow growth.
Temperature Requirements:
The Sanseveria enjoys a humid warmer climate. They enjoy indoor temperatures as well.
Watering Requirements:
Water your plant only when soil is thoroughly dry. Overwatering may lead to root rot. Water as frequently as every two weeks in summer months, and as little as every two months in wintertime. Do not allow water to sit in center of leaf clusters.
Repotting:
Repotting or transplanting your plant is a good way to ensure the soil maintains enough nutrients for the plant to thrive. Sansevierias do not mind being root bound, but it is recommended to repot when the plant begins to outgrow its planter. Repotting can be done as a whole plant, or leaf clusters can be separated to form new plants.

This type of plant will do well in either outdoor or indoor settings.
