Care Information

The Serissa Japonica does best in humid areas with filtered or shaded sunlight, avoid direct sunlight and cold draught areas. Good humidity levels must be maintained and can be provided by the use of a humidity tray. Water moderately, keeping the tree moist at all times. Do not water the soil again until the soil composite has NEARLY dried out, as the Serissa dislikes continually wet roots and completely dried out soil. The yellowing of the leaves can indicate overwatering, and brown and crispy leaves indicate lack of water or humidityMake sure the Serissa has adequate soil drainageYou do not need to repot more than once every 2-3 years, if you are planning on repotting the Serissa it is best to repot in the spring and use standard bonsai potting soil or any potting soil the provides adequate drainage. Prune accordingly to keep the desired shape of the Serissa. When pruning the Serissa, prune after flowering, when in growth and when several leaves have developed. When pruning, be sure to prune back to 1-2 leaves, leaving at least 4-5 leaves on the branch.
