We recommending using a wire that is 1/3 to 1/2 of the thickness of the branch you are trying to bend. A quick trick to tell what type of wire to use is to push the wire against the branch. If the wire moves the branch, the wire is thick enough. If the branch moves the wire, then you may need to go with a thicker gauge.
